Longest railway tunnel in the world
Iwate-Ichinohe Tunnel is a railway tunnel in Japan over 25.810 km, which connects Tokyo to Aomori.When it opened in 2002, this tunnel had held the record for longest tunnel Worldwide, but in June 2007 moved the record after the opening Lotschberg Base Tunnel. The tunnel is located 545 km from Tokyo Station. The survey began in 1988. In 1991 construction began, and completed in 2000. New in 2002 the tunnel was opened to the public. Maximum depth is about 200 m. that exist today.
